My Work That I Would like to Do

Hello visitors! Today I’m going to tell you what work I would volunteer for. This post is a response the the Edublog Challenge. If I had to choose, I would volunteer at the Salvation Army. The Salvation army is an organization that helps people in need. They go around the world and they help hungry and poor people. It is important to me because my grandpa and my dad volunteered for the Salvation Army. I believe that it would be fun to help people in need and it would be a life changing experience.  In return, I think I would be able to know all the people and everyone would like me. I would have the experience and if my family member was in need I would be able to help them. I could also give speeches to people so they could help other people too. I also think I would be able to create an organisation so I could help others.I think I would like to volunteer for the Salvation Army. Thank you for reading this post and I hope you visit their site called The Salvation Army Monterey. I hope you help  people in need and have a great day!

The Battle of Salamis: A Point of View from a Persian

Here is a picture I drew!!

Hello visitors! Today I am going to pretend to be a Persian warrior going into battle at the Salamis. Hope you enjoy!

The battle at Salamis was a life changing experience. I was trained for war and I was ready for it. The Persian king,  told my army we were going to take control of Athens because Athens defeated them before, when his father Darius was ruling. We heard thaat most of our soldiers were dead from the battle of Thermopylae but we knew we still had to take control of Athens. We were rowing the huge Persian ships to the strait of Salamis, where one of the Greek traitors told us that the Greeks were not suspecting us to come and attack. We were ready for battle.

When we got to the strait, we saw a fleet of about 200 Greek ships that were lined up and ready for battle. I heard my leader yell, “We’ve been tricked!” I was so surprised.  We couldn’t go back because  our other thousands of ships were still rowing towards us. I knew we had to keep on going and fight until our death. Then, we saw the smaller Greek ships rowing  towards us quickly and we started towards them too. The Greek ships were fast and nimble, very slender, and they had huge rams in the front of them. We finally got closer and the Greek ships rammed into some of our ships. I could here screaming, smell the salt of the sea, and I saw many of our ships sinking. I was looking at  the other ships sinking when our ship was hit with two boats. I could hear a huge crack like wood was breaking  and I felt a huge jolt from the two ships. Then our ship was smashed in half and we were sinking now. Suddenly, I felt the bitter cold water touching my feet. I knew I had to swim. I felt some grief because I could smell the fresh blood of my fellow sailors. I started to swim to Athens, where I knew our foot soldiers and calvary were  fighting. I was freezing cold and I could taste the salt in my mouth. I felt  excruciating  pain on my leg and I realized I was stabbed by a peice of wood. I pulled the piece out and yelled. An hour passed and I finally got to the shore. I reached the army and they told me they took control of athens. Then we went home and later, there would be another battle.

Thank you for reading the post and have a great day! Bye!

My Math Summary

Hello visitors!  This post is about ! This week in class we learned how to find the perimeter of a shape, circumference of a circle, area of a rectangle or a square, and finding the area of a triangle and a trapezoid. The first thing we did was to find the perimeter of a shape. The first step was to write the formula l+w+l+w. Then we had to plug in the numbers. After that we added all the numbers together. The next thing we did was to find the circumference of a circle. The first step was to write the formula which was 2 x Pi x R. After that, we multiplied 3.14 times the Radius. After that, we divided it by 2. The next thing we did was  to find the area of a rectangle or a square. We did that by writing the formula first. The formula was l x w. Next, we had to  plug in the numbers and after that we had to multiply them. The last thing we did was to find the area of a triangle or a trapezoid. The first step  to finding the area of a triangle was to write the formula which was 1/2bh. The next thing we did was to plug in the numbers. Then we had to multiply the base and the height and divide it by two. To find the area of a trapezoid, we had to write the formula and that was A= h(b1 + b2). Then we plugged in the numbers. After that, we added the first base and the second base together. Next, we multiplied the height and the sum of the bases together. Finally, we divided it by 2. That was what we did all week in math class and thank you for reading my blog post! Bye!

My Second Poem!! :)

Leo sat in the savannah, watching the beautiful red and orange sunset,
closing his eyes, picturing his ancestors playing and running,
picturing this world being made, the only world,
and thought about his parents, long gone
he then heard a bird chirping,
caw caw caw!
as though if it were mocking him,
and he opened his eyes ears twitching, tail swishing,
and hunted that annoying bird,
waiting and waiting,
his heart pumping,
he pounced on the bird, catching his dinner,
growling satisfyingly,
he was the best leopard in the world!

Morning came,
spotting  a mysterious forest, and murmuring to himself,
“that’s strange, there is only one world and the whole Savannah is covering it,”
strutting towards it, senses high,
finding himself at the mysterious forest.
he started to explore the forest,
hoping he would see something new, and spotted a giant mushroom!
oh, he loving that mushroom so much,
he decided he was going to dig it out with his claws.
digging as fast as a bulldozer,
he heard a terrifying growl, heart pumping,
he saw nothing but blackness,
waking  up to the smell of raw meat, he sat up and yawned,
looking to the side, he saw an enormous dragon!
He stared, eyes as huge as an owl’s,
its huge talons, saphire-blue scales, teeth as sharp as knives,
huge muscular arms, fearsome eyes, and let out a shriek of distress.
hearing a soothing voice, and the dragon’s voice it was,
sighing with of relief, Saphira asked,.
“ what is your name?” “ My name is Leo.”
and from that day on, they were best friends.
On a sunny day, Saphira woke up, hearing  a terrified shriek,
like a gaziel crying in pain,
It was a zebra, who was limping, eyes wide with terror.
Saphira landed, and starting toward the zebra,
“Do not hurt me!” the zebra neighed,
“ Get out of here! the queen wants to take over the Savannah!!!”
“ What queen?” growled saphira,
,”Queen Nyxalasia! the queen of night!” She came from her world!” moaned the zebra.
eyes wide with horror,

“Leo! I have to save Leo!”
She flew towards the forest,
like a hawk hunting its prey, and saw him sprinting towards the Savannah.
diving down, catching him with her bare claws,
and started towards the middle of the Savannah.
landing, they told everyone what happened,
The animals went together, like a rebel army,
towards the cold- hearted queen..
stars started to march through the forest,
their teeth bared, they ran towards the stars,
like a cat chasing a mouse,
Leo pounced at the queen ,
knife in her hand, ready for kill,
Saphira noticed and flew towards the queen, roaring in rage,
ROAR!!!
But the queen killed her,
and Saphira took her last breath,
Leo ran to her, crouched by Saphira’s side,
and  YOWLED!!!!!!!!!
Furious he pounced at the queen,
the queen was a monster,
knocking the knife out of her hand and choked her.
The war was over, and everything was in peace again,
and the animals, including Leo, created the planet Earth,
to live happily together.

Letter From Me in Ancient Greece !!

Here is my drawing of my Greek house

Hi visitors! In this post, I am pretending to be a woman in Sparta,  ancient Greece. I am writing a letter to my mom and dad in Sparta. My name is Dalia Nyx and I am 18 years old in the letter. I am telling them my role and what I do. Enjoy!

Dear Mom and Dad,

I wanted to write you to let you know how proud I am to be a Spartan.   Even though I am supposed to be an Athenian, since you guys are,  but I was always made to be a Spartan. Right now I am living in my beautiful Greek house. I think our government is perfect because I feel protected.  Our government is an oligarchy and yours is a democracy. I feel safe because we have a strong army and a strong government. Some people  think that our government is strict, but I don’t think that. The government keeps order so I feel safe. I also love it here because women have more rights here than other women in  Athens.  We can own property, and also do anything we want.

My role in the Spartan society is to be fit to become a healthy mother and train in sports.  I usually go to the fields and train everyday. I train in running ,  wrestling , and throwing the javelin.  I am the best in wrestling. I think Sparta is better than Athens because it is more protected and women have freedom. Athens focuses on art and music, and Sparta focuses on protecting us. I believe that Sparta will last along time  because we are protected. I don’t think Athens will last because  someone can easily take over the city-state. I think we will be able to be a great city-state and one day rule Greece!

Sincerely,

Dalia Nyx

Thank you for reading this post and remember, I am not a Spartan! Please comment on my blog. Bye!

I like the colors of pink and white. I gave her some questions to answer and these are  the answers she gave me. In South Korea, her town has a small park, an art hall, and a mountain course. She goes to a school called GSISI. There country’s famous sport is Taekwondo. Their weather is mostly cold. Another  blog I visited was THE GREAT DINO DUCK. I liked her blog because I loved her background and blog style. I asked her the same questions. She didn’t answer me back yet, but here is some things about her. She loves horseback riding and volleyball. Her favorite color is mostly black. She also likes hanging out with her friends and she is also reading the Hunger Game Series. Those are some blogs I like.

The next blog I visited was called Peter’s Pippin Kitten. I like his blog because he had a huge picture of a kitten on it.  He also didn’t answer but read some stuff on his about me page. He is a sixth grade and he loves playing the piano and flute. He has been playing the piano for six years and like me, I have been playing the piano for nine years. Another blog I visited was called Cate’s Blog. I liked her blog because she likes volleyball like I do. She didn’t answer back either but here are some things. She lives in the U.S. Her favorite sports are soccer and volleyball. She has two siblings. The last blog I visited was Kristina’s blog. I liked her blog because her theme was twitter. I asked her questions and she also didn’t answer back. Her family is from vietnamese and she has a few pets and she has four sisters. She also loves karate and she is a red belt. When I’m 65 :)

Cassidy and IHello visitors! In this post, I’m pretending that I am 65 years old and giving advice to my middle school self.

It’s been a while since I have been in middle school, but despite my age, I still remember a lot about it. When I was younger, I used to play professional volleyball. Now I ‘m retired, but I still remember  how I tore my Achilles tendant and how I had a limp later in my life. Now I have to walk with a can but it doesn’t bother me. I also loved to play with my friends in volleyball. Most of the time we played when we hung out. My life was great even though there was some pain in it.

Now I didn’t do a lot of things right in my life, so I’m going give advise to my middle school self. One thing I didn’t do right is not where ankle braces in volleyball. If I did wear them, I would have not  tore my Achilles Tendant. Also I would have  played volleyball earlier so I could have played longer. It doesn’t matter now, because I can’t play volleyball anymore. Life is hard but in the end, we always get something out of it.

Thank you for reading my blog. Please remember, I am not 65 years old! Thanks and Bye
